Norwegian Escape from Miami Port Arrival Time

I am on the Escape out of Miami and would like to get on the ship as early as possible. How early can I arrive at the terminal? What is the check in process? Is it similar to in New York where they give you a number and then board in groups based on those numbers. If so, what time do they start handing out the numbers?

The earlier you get there the lower a number you'll get to get on. Usually this is around 11-11:30. But I don't remember getting a number on our last NCL cruise last spring.
