Cruise specific travel insurance

Your other post suggests you're from the UK (it always helps with such questions if you quote your location / nationality)

Some travel insurance policies specifically exclude cruises, those insurers usually have alternative policies specifically for cruises. Others have cruise add-ons.

Best value for most Brits is an annual travel insurance policy, but make sure that policy covers both regular travel & cruises.

Some cruise insurance policies offer a degree of cover for a missed sailing or missed ports, either included or as an add-on. Whether that's worthwhile depends on the reliability of your travel plans & your ports, whether you commit front-money to private tours, car rental, etc in the ports, and your general attitude toward insurance.

All the above specific to UK travellers.

If you book cruise & flight as two separate components, check whether your insurance covers your flight costs in the event that the cruise line cancels the cruise since the cruise line is not obliged to refund those costs.

Like the vast majority of cruisers we have fairly basic travel insurance, and like the vast majority of cruisers we've never had to put it to the test.

The expensive risks that you need to cover are cruise cancellation or curtailment/medicare/repatriation, usually for medical or home problems. Cover for other contingencies is a matter of personal choice.
