Private tours

We are approaching our cruise and we are not sure what private tours there are and are reliable. anyone have some good experiences for :

 

Villefranche, Monaco, etc

Marsilles

 

Has anyone heard of Viator tours??

We used Dream Tours for a full day tour of the Villefranche area (Eze, Nice, Cannes, St Paul, Monaco, Monte Carlo). It was easily the best tour of the trip.

Do the tours require upfront payments? or do they take a reservation and get paid when we do the tour?

Hi WASUP. We've just finished planning and arranging our private shore excursions for our Med cruise in may 06. My experience with six drivers/tour guides is that five (athens, rome, naples, marseille, and istanbul) did not require upfront payment or deposit. Only one (florence) required a credit card number for a deposit (and charge if we didn't show up) for EACH of the three couples in our day tour. I wasn't keen on the giving of credit card numbers, but at least she required credit card numbers for each -- not just from one person who could get socked with the charge if someone ELSE didn't show up...
