southwardbound Posted September 27, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2005 :) Thanks for the heads up about the Hampton Inn in Coconut Grove/ Coral Gables. Is there a Hampton, Embassy Suite or Double Tree that you would recommend for a family of teens for night before the cruise in Miami? We are hilton honors members and would like to try to use our points. We will be flying into FFL. Can you recommend a shuttle service or rental car service from FFl to the hotel and one from the hotel to the port of call? Thanks!
TrentS Posted September 27, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2005 From FLL to Miami we use either Tri-County/Airport Express... http://www.floridalimo.com/ Or Larry's Limo... http://larryslimo.com/ Both are reliable, reputable local companies, but in many cases a rental car is cheaper, shop around. Conrad International would be my choice in Miami for a Hilton brand hotel. It's downtown, 5 minutes from the port, is brand new and very nice... http://conradhotels.hilton.com/en/ch/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=MIACICI The only other "Hilton" brand I can recommend in Miami are at the airport. The airport Hilton... http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=MIAAHHH And the airport Hampton Inn are both very nice... http://www.hamptoninnmiamiairport.com/ Either of those airport hotels are very nice if you have a car, or are coming in late and just want to go to the hotel. But if you're getting in early enough for dinner and don't have a rental car I would recommend the Conrad, or one of the other downtown Miami hotels, closest to the Port of Miami and Bayside Marketplace... http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/ JW Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/miajw Hyatt Regency... http://miamiregency.hyatt.com/property/index.jhtml Intercontinental... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ic/1/en/hd/miaha?irs=null Marriott Courtyard... http://www.miamicourtyard.com/ Biscayne Bay Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/miabb Four Seasons... http://www.fourseasons.com/miami/index.html Mandarin Oriental... http://www.mandarinoriental.com/hotel/526000001.asp Holiday Inn Bayside/Port of Miami (for the budget minded)... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/miabb
southwardbound Posted September 27, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted September 27, 2005 Thanks for the imput. I went with priceline and got Holiday Inn Coral Gables Downtown. Pretty disappointed, but I took the chance and its only for one night. Any imput on this hotel?
TrentS Posted September 27, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2005 If you mean the one on Le Jeune Road, I've never been inside that one, but am past it a lot. It's an old hotel, about 5 blocks from downtown Coral Gables/Miracle Mile area. About 20-25 minutes from the port. Reviews aren't great... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34152-d87133-Reviews-Holiday_Inn_Coral_Gables_Business_District_International_Airport-Coral_Gables_Florida.html IMO you have to be very careful with Priceline and I would never go below 4-stars, as some of their "3-star" and less hotels aren't so nice lately. tray Posted September 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2005 I'm not sure if it's the same hotel---but we stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown on Biscayne Boulevard and it was in a great location. It was right across the street from an awesome shopping area and some fun restaurants all lit up at night. It was only a few minutes by van from the port and the hotel was great about getting all that arranged for us. I was leary but it was a great deal! TrentS Posted September 27, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2005 That's NOT the same Holiday Inn tray... southwardbound is talking about downtown Coral Gables, your Holiday Inn is downtown MIAMI
