Great views and a natural inhabitant-the curly tailed lizard-

No wonder the Spanish lost the battle of Santiago harbour in 1898 with the American fleet waiting mainly beyond the fort's guns.

You could even see the airport from the fort.Not that it would have helped in 1898!

Then we were taken to the original square of the Old Town and the Cathedral-

Now an ethical dilemma.This local woman is talking to one of the ship's crew.She has an obvious inherited condition.Do you tell her?

Our next stop was at the San juan Hill battlefirld where Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders took part.Good views of Santiago de Cuba's only 5 star hotel,the Spanish run Melia-

There was a very interesting programme on UK TV this evening about the railway system in Cuba.

Though not that far from the square it appears not every one has benefitted from the Revolution-

Now notice the bullet holes.Unfortunately the Army had repaired the barracks so these were created after the revolution.
