Good snorkeling in Belize?

I was on the snorkel and catamaran trip in Cozumel and the snorkling was terrible. The best snorkeling I have seen is in St. Johns. How does Belize rate? Is there a good company to use? Thanks.

The snorkeling in Belize is great. The Geoff 's(sp?) Key trip was the best. They take you out to a little island and you can go all around it. The water is crystal clear and the view is the best!

Goff's is a tiny island with sand and 10- 15 palm trees. THe locals boat over to sell t-hrits, soft drinks. Portable restrooms were brought over on a boat.

Does anyone know about where the cruise excursion "Beach Break" in Belize (offered thru Carnival, and probably others) takes you too? Is that the Goff's island referred to above? Any good snorkeling around the island?

Goff's Cay is wonderful. We snorkeled off the boat at first. The guides were very helpful. The fish were colorful and plentiful. We even did some free diving. The boat picked us up and then brought us to the Cay, where we had the best barbeque chicken and corn. They have beverages there as well.

 

One of our fellow passengers [ a male] had his chest hair braided by a local. It was a kick to watch.

 

The Cay is small and not a resort so no chairs or beach butlers.

 

The best thing is through Carnival, we tendered there straight from our ship.

We were there on the Valor during the last full week in August. The only problem in my opinion, was the water wasn't as glassy green as I would have liked (I think Katrina was the cause- still, I must say we were fortunate nevertheless)
