MrsWaldo Posted October 6, 2015 Author #26 Share Posted October 6, 2015 However on Shadow, we assemble outside at the life boat station. While there attendance is taken and life jacket demonstration conducted. No grade school marching. This is how every other cruise line we've been on does it. ? Ripper! You've made my day.... We are on Shadow😁😁😁😁😁
Observer Posted October 6, 2015 #27 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Why the different procedure between the two ships? I think – but am prepared to stand corrected–that a lot depends upon the captain. There are SOLAS minimums, but the captain can require embellishments. For example, some captains require attendance at multiple drills for passengers doing back to backs. Others apparently believe that the passenger can remember one week what was said the previous week.
Perfectionistcruiser Posted October 6, 2015 #28 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Well I'm on the Explorer now where we had an exceptionally well managed drill following embarkation, before sailed, I think the entire thing took less than twenty minutes and a subsequent crew drill whilst we were in Cuba was equally well run, no complaints here at all.
