Galveston Questions

Never sailed out of Galveston before, have a couple questions. Which airport is the

best one to fly into? About how far is the airport from the cruise ship pier?

Nearest airport is Hobby (HOU) at 42.1 miles from airport to pier.

The closest is not necessarily the best, it all depends on the airlines. Houston's big airport (IAH) has many, many more flights (and served by many more airlines) each day than Hobby (HOU) does. Therefore, check the pricing from your home airport to both airports and the price difference (if any) may make the choice much easier.

 

IAH is farther to Galveston than HOU (I know, I live very close to IAH), but ground transportation is a bigger issue from IAH than HOU (but really not that much). If you use your cruise line's transfers, the difference in miles becomes less of an issue.

 

I recommend that you price both and pick whichever one is the least expensive from your home airport.

The only time we fly using Hobby is if we are using Southwest. United, American, etc. is better into IAH.
