We will be arriving for a day by cruise ship. I'd loke to go to Vizcaya and do a boat tour. Since this will all need top be arranged privately..(no ship tours), what is the best way to plan this. The ship docks at 12 noon.

Thanks,

Katie

Vizcaya is only about 10-15 minutes from the Port of Miami, it would be easiest to just grab a taxi to go down there and back. If you want to do a boat tour, have them drop you at Bayside Marketplace on the way back. It's just across the bridge from the port, and they have boat tours available there... http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/

LOL, thanks... Ah, you don't want to walk from the port to Bayside. It's not that it's all that far, but it is farther than it looks (depends on which cruise line too), and it's not really set up for walking. Taxis are quite plentiful, shouldn't cost you more than a few dollars, and would be a lot safer.

Trent,

Since you are the one in the know. We will be arriving by cruise ship next Oct and will be there from 7am to 6pm. What is the best way to do the everglades and a airboat ride. We are also thinking of maybe doing South Beach also How easy to rent a car or van at the Port. There could be 6 or 7 of us. Is there a private tour company that could pick us up and take us to the Everglades. Pam

South Beach is easy, it's a 10 minute cab ride from the port. If you want to do the Everglades book the excursion through your ship if they offer one, it's far easier that way. Otherwise you will need a rental car. I'm not aware of any tour companies that will pick you up. There are no rental car companies at the port. Hertz has a downtown Miami office, but if you want to use someone other than them you'll need to go to the airport to get a car.

This is the closest Everglades excursion to the Port of Miami... http://www.evsafaripark.com/
