Phone Cards In Mexico

Hello Everyone, Does anyone have any advise about the best place to purchase phone cards in Mexico. I will be on the Sapphire, Nov. 25 - Dec. 3 to the Mexican Riviera and due to an illness in the family, I will need to keep in touch as often as I can. I have been told to wait until I get to Mexico to purchase a phone card because many purchased in the states can be useless.
