Flight time leaving Barcelona

Hi,

 

This will be our first time on Celebrity.

 

We live in CA and would like the earliest flight possible. On Oceania, we would self disembark at 7:00am and never had a problem with an early flight.

 

This time we are flying home from Barcelona and would like an 10:15am flight. Celebrity says we dock in Barcelona at 6:00am. (I'm assuming we can self disembark by 7:00am)

 

Wondering if anyone has had an experience with the ship docking later than expected in Barcelona?

We fly to CA. also. We'll be doing the same next May. What we usually do is stay an extra day in Barcelona, and then fly home the next day. It alleviates that "disembarkation day" stress.

We have always been on time arriving in Barcelona. It takes about 45 minute to 1 hour to get to the airport. Also you are talking about rush hour. You also have to go thru passport control when you leave. In September we stayed and extra day to avoid any issues. Worked out well. Stayed by the airport and went into the city and had dinner. No hurrying to the airport.

I contacted Celebrity a few years ago concerning this and was advised that it was okay to book flights after 10am.

 

We had no problems at all catching a 10:45am flight in Barcelona a few years ago and would have easily been able to catch a 10:15am flight.

 

We self-disembarked shortly before 7am and immediately caught a taxi to the airport. It was a 15-20 minute ride to the airport. The airport is close to the port and at that hour of the day there was no rush hour traffic.

 

We were flying US Airways and they only started accepting luggage 2 hours before the flight so we had to wait over an hour before we could drop off our bags. We arrived at our gate with over 90 minutes to spare.

Lines at the airport for check in can be long . In addition, if you buy things in Europe and want to get a refund of your VAT, you need to get your receipts stamped by Customs, where again the line can be long and slow.

Please provide your ship and sail date so we can provide the recommended flight times.

We got off the Equinox last week with a flight time of 10:50 AM. I was concerned but we made it with plenty of time to spare. Off course, there were no problems but, I would hesitate to make air arrangements any earlier.

 

All the passengers with flights before 11:00 were the first to get off.

 

If there are several ships that morning it may be hard to get taxis.

We were on a similar flight about 8 years ago. Got off the ship at 7:30 a.m. and had a flight around 10:30 a.m. on Air France back to LA with no problems whatsoever. The airport is very close to the port too.
