How do buses work on Grand Bahamas Island

I've been looking into this topic but can't seem to find any details as to how they work. So far the websites all say the same thing; that the are minibuses from multiple companies and about $1 or so pp. They also say schedules and routes are inexact, that they can change depending on the number of people and requests. Surely though, they must have some kind of general fixed route and timetable. If not, then how would anything get done? I can't seem to find any of that info online. Are there bus maps one can get on the Island?

I'm trying to reach some of the beaches further from Lucaya Beach using the bus system. I've heard Taino, silver pointe, fortune and Xanadu are great alternatives to the crowded Lucaya resort beach. I'm just trying to figure out how to get there without using a taxi.

Google "grand Bahama port charges taxi buses" - pictures should come up of the signage at the port. A shared taxi to Taino Beach is $7 pp/ow. These are rates from Freeport Harbour. There is usually someone there that will direct you to the shared taxi you need to take.
