Question about setting up on board account

Is it possible to set up an on board account using a debit card as opposed to a credit card? I have a MasterCard one.

You can buy realize they will place holds on your account and some of your funds may be tied up until after the cruise is over.

Not just "may be tied" but most likely will be for quite a while, depending on the bank. The cruise line will make holds that take time to be released.

Cash sounds like an easier way to go if I want to avoid using a credit card.

Better to use cash....same as the debit, but no "holds" will be put on cash! The holds on a debit card can affect your account well after the cruise is over....or even in your ports....

 

Just withdraw the cash from your account, and use that. Cash is KING!

If you have a credit card, it's the best and easiest way to go.
