DorothyB Posted November 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I have 4 specialty dining meals on my 7 day cruise in February. Can I use one or more of those to pay for the "a la carte" extra charge items in the main dining rooms?
Demonyte Posted November 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2015 No. "IN WHICH VENUES WILL MY SPECIALTY DINING PACKAGE BE HONORED? Specialty dining packages are honored in Cagney's Steakhouse, Moderno Churrascaria, Teppanyaki and our French and Italian restaurants. Guests who have purchased the package may also choose to dine in select à la carte priced restaurants, entertainment-based restaurants, Bayamo, Pincho Tapas Bar, and Ocean Blue restaurants, for the following per person upcharges..." https://www.ncl.com/specialty-dining-package/faq
cruzincurt Posted November 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2015 (edited) Is the Ultimate dining package being offered with new bookings the same as the specialty dining package purchased separately on the website? We have the UDP on upcoming cruises and were curious about how it applies to the ala carte venues. Edited November 25, 2015 by cruzincurt

No, it is not. UDP is not available anymore - even as a promo. Current promo gives specific amount of days with SDP. We have the UDP on upcoming cruises and were curious about how it applies to the ala carte venues. There are several threads about that, here is one of the latest: Ultimate Dining Plan UDP Experiences and Discounts on NCL Escape Here are the T&C for UDP: https://www.ncl.com/udp/faq . hawkeyetlse Posted November 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Is the Ultimate dining package being offered with new bookings the same as the specialty dining package purchased separately on the website? As far as I know, no one is able to offer the Ultimate Dining Package with any new bookings. This product was discontinued earlier this year. There may be some TAs that are still using the old terminology by mistake. If you already have the UDP on bookings you made several months ago, it will still be honored on board. In à la carte venues, this means that you can order one main dish per person, and as many appetizers, soups, sides, desserts, etc. as you like. It used to be that you could visit several restaurants on the same day with the UDP, but on our last cruise they were no longer allowing this. One visit per day, and all additional restaurants charged at the normal price.
cruzincurt Posted November 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2015 We have the 4 meal specialty dining package booked through NCL direct last week as one of their special booking offers. We paid $13 each for the tips. I assume it doesn't include the ala carte places.

I assume it doesn't include the ala carte places. It depends, there are two different kinds of à la carte places, some of them are fully included with the SDP, others you pay a flat cover charge. It's best if you read the SDP terms/FAQ and some of the other threads about people's recent experiences with the SDP, particularly on the Escape. (On the Star in December you probably won't have any à la carte options, other than sushi.)
