Fun Ship Dollars???

Hi,

Taking our first cruise 12/5/05 Imagination out of Miami. Love the idea of pre paying whatever we can. I was reading about fun ship dollars? I know you can buy them in different amounts and then it is put on your Sign/sail card. Can you use them for spa treatments? what about bar drinks? I also heard about "bar tickets" what is the difference and which is better? Oh also, can you apply them to your daily tip charges and soda and drink card. Okay, it would have just been easier to ask "what can you apply them too"

Thanks to all in advance,

Jackie

Jackie. It is easier just to call Carnival with your booking number and credit card. They can charge your card whatever amount you want and place it directly into your onboard account. Many people do this every month, so when the cruise rolls around they have a nice spending balance. The Fun Ship dollars and drink coupons are designed more as a gift item that someone else orders. Makes one less thing to worry about, carry around and not lose.

We have bought drink coupons in the past and they were a big help. We used them to pay for our drinks. This time I am doing both drink coupons and Fun Ship dollars. Trying to cut down on the s/s bill at the end too.

yeah, so when you purchase FunShip Dollars with your credit card it goes onto your sign and sail account, as actual cash, and you can always get money at the casino cashier for a small 3% fee if you need it.. And best of all, your FunShip Dollars purchase, is not a cash advance on your credit card!

If you buy the Drinks of the Day or a Beer the Drink coupons are not much of a value in fact with the drink of the day on refills you go in the Hole.

The Fun Ship dollars are great I purchased a 100.00 aprox. each month for a couple months before my cruise and then when we sailed we posted them to our sail card and this lasted a good share of he cruise. Did not get any money back, but I did not have the shock of a guy I seen checking out that did not understand how he spent 2000.00 on drinks in a week.

Thanks Randy :) :)

PS. you can look at your account each night in the Room as you eat a earlier morning snack from room service. that way you also know where you stand each day.

I love this idea (especially the part about not having to remember to bring and not lose the funship $$ certificates). But if you put a deposit down with your credit card, and don't spend it all, do they put the balance back on your credit card (and if so, when), or does it work like the funship $$ and any remaining balance is refunded by a check placed under your door on the last night?

I am pretty sure they still give you cash at the end of the cruise. I suppose that if people used a credit card to put down a huge sum, say thousands of dollars, and then spent hardly any of it, that the refund could come in the form of a refund to the credit card. But if the amount left is a reasonably small portion of the amount deposited, it has been refunded in cash. (In other words, don't try to wrack up tons of points on your card, just deposit a reasonable amount that you expect to actually use)
