Mamma D Posted December 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2015 Sailing on Escape in February. First time in St Thomas and asking for suggestions on excursions. We like to sight see...not really big shoppers or people that want to sit at a beach all day but wouldn't mind touring a few beaches and shops. Basically we would like to tour the island. Some of the reviews for the bus trips are not real good so leaning more towards renting a vehicle. I know you drive on the left side (shoulder to shoulder) but reading some older posts it is not recomended due to the heavy traffic, narrow roads, etc. What about the jeep tour...has anyone done that? Open to any/all suggestions.

watchdiva Posted December 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2015 Strongly suggest you do NOT rent a car in STT....the traffic is insane! Book a private tour...
danimalct Posted December 17, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2015 Even just walking over to one of he many tour taxis that sit right at the dock and hopping on one with 10 or 12 other people is cheap and simple. Don't worry about the open air pickup truck style taxis, they have been safe every time we used them.

4774Papa Posted December 17, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 17, 2015 We have been to St. Thomas twice. First time, we did an excursion that included Blackbeard's castle and a tour of the island. Second time, we took a tour that included the nearby island of St. John. Both were good.
2ManyCruises Posted December 18, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 18, 2015 Marian's Taxi Service - she along with her husband gives great private tours of the island. Not expensive. Check her out on Trip Advisor,
