raysue Posted October 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2005 We just recieved our docs (dance, dance,DANCE !!!) Included was a page talking about a onboard luggage valet. Aparently they take you luggage from the ship and check you in at your airlines. How does this work? How do you get your luggage tags from the airlines? Has anyone used this service, and did you like it??? Inquireing minds NEED to know !!! Thanks,;) Sue

CruisinDoug Posted October 5, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2005 Sorry for the late answer, I forgot my password and had to have it reset. Anyway.. We just used this service in Vancouver and it was wonderful. If it is the same out of San Diego, here is how it works. About mid-cruise you will receive some info in your room about the service. Included will be some forms and other info. There is a $20 charge per person, but it is well worth it. You must take the forms to the service desk for processing and to charge your account. The last night of the cruise you receive airline luggage tags generated on ship. You put those on your bags, put your bags outside that night, and don't see them again until you get to your final destination airport. We went from Vancouver to Cleveland and it worked like a charm. Plus in Vancouver we had Customs, which we were able to avoid!!! If this is the same service it is well worth the money no to schlepp your bags! canderson Posted October 5, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2005 We just used this service in Vancouver and it was wonderful. At one time, this was being offered only by Delta (?) and on some cruises. What airline were you flying? Would be great to hear that this service has been expanded since we cruised in April '05 (not available on Connie back then, although they'd FedEx stuff back for you!) Mancuso Posted October 5, 2005 #8 Share Posted October 5, 2005 In Vancouver, did you have to go from the ship right to the airport, or could you enjoy Vancouver on your own before heading to the airport? Thanks,
judyfssw Posted October 6, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2005 As long as you're leaving on the same day that you disembark, you can use the service in Vancouver. If you're staying overnight, you need to take your bags with you to your hotel.
CruisinDoug Posted October 6, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2005 Due to time constraints we went right thru to the airport. that is the whole point of this procedure in Vancouver, you don't have to spend all that time going to customs.
