mom2tcdx2 Posted December 28, 2015 #51 Share Posted December 28, 2015 I do have to say I also felt that it was pretty much a negative review and I would have figured you didn't like it all that much. Did state it was good for rest and relaxation, but basically didn't have much in the way of positives. Definitely more negative comments than positive ones. I must imagine there had to have been some other positives that you just haven't listed? Though you seem very similar to my sister, she can pretty much list 20 things she hated and three she liked, yet she will still tell you she pretty much had an ok time. Mar y Sol Posted January 6, 2016 #52 Share Posted January 6, 2016 I was also on Anthem 12/12. I agree with a lot of the OP's comments. It's a very different experience from most RC cruises. We always found something to eat but were not really impressed with the food overall. Agree that Silk was the worst. One person from our group ate at Wonderland and raved about it, but personally I never do pay restaurants. Windjammer was always busy, next to impossible to find a table, and they took ages to clear dirty tables. The arrangement was a bit confusing there, with multiple stations with the same thing, so you had to walk all over to make sure you saw everything. The sandwiches, salads, and soup at Cafe 270 were good although the lines were confusing there, too. We had breakfast and lunch at Devinly Decadence almost every day - very calm there with friendly and sufficient staff and good food. Oddly, though, they serve the same stuff every day. My group hated Spectra's Cabaret (fell asleep at it post-late seating dinner). We also couldn't follow The Gift and left 10 minutes in. We enjoyed We Will a Rock You. Spent loads of time in the gorgeous Solarium and never had an issue finding a chair. Also agree that the Esplanade doesn't compare to the Promenade. Promenade is wider and more inviting. We did the I-Fly and it was awesome. Didn't get around to the North Star or Bionic Bar. Quest in Seaplex, agreed, so weird with nowhere to sit. The bar service was great, particularly Ulysses in Boleros. Lack of late night dancing/ entertainment, for sure. However... Like the OP, our group still had a lot of fun, made some friends, relaxed, and enjoyed the pretty and modern ship. I prefer Freedom & Oasis class, but cruising from Bayonne is so convenient for me (live 20 minutes from port). With Anthem there at least a few more years, I would go again. Mar y Sol Posted January 6, 2016 #53 Share Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) Thanks for your review tennislvr8! It's always good to read people's perspectives on their cruise! We go out early next month and I'm going with a positive disposition and going to make the best of it! I now know it's not the usual RCCL and am expecting a sort of new cruise experience! Thanks to you and all the CC posters, I think I'm ready! Edited January 6, 2016 by Mar y Sol
Life is Good Cruising Posted January 6, 2016 #54 Share Posted January 6, 2016 No late night dancing, say it isn't so? Please tell me there's music somewhere at night! There's music and dancing every night in the Music Hall, in Boleros and we had music and dancing at poolside one night. The Schooner Bar has music, they also have the 70's Groovy Town Party and our 12 night sailing had the 50's & 60's Rock and Roll Party. I'm in the casino nightly and can hear the music in the Music Hall way past 1 am on both Quantum and Anthem sailings.

majesty318 Posted January 6, 2016 #56 Share Posted January 6, 2016 No late night dancing, say it isn't so? Please tell me there's music somewhere at night! The only "club" type of place after midnight, at least on our sailing, was Music Hall. The crowd was mostly very young or older - not many 20/30 somethings (my age). My friend and I didn't love the music. We did enjoy Boleros but it was not open as late. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Bril Posted January 8, 2016 #58 Share Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) Possibly they have the band 'Rock the Boat' aboard during your sailing. On the Independence of the Seas they often played till late.. Edited January 8, 2016 by Bril
