Lynniepoo Posted December 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 24, 2015 Hi, DH and I will be on a cruise ending in Tokyo (Yokohama). We decided to stay one extra day before leaving, and our flight is out of Narita. Can anyone give us some advice on the best way to get to the airport? We saw that a bus and train goes there, but we will have all our luggage, and we think a taxi will be pretty expensive. Thanks!
BruceMuzz Posted December 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 25, 2015 You didn't tell us where you are staying, but a taxi from Yokohama OR Tokyo to Narita is quite expensive. Narita Express is the JR train specifically designed to take you from Yokohama or Tokyo to Narita Airport. You can catch it at Yokohama Station in Yokohama, or at Shinagawa, Shinjuku, or Tokyo Stations in Tokyo. It runs very often, has special bins for luggage, and gets you to Narita Kuko quickly and comfortably. You can Google it to get more details, or ask the Front Desk at your hotel. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 25, 2015 Also write to the hotel and ask them to price out a private vehicle for you. Keith
TravelMore&More Posted December 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 25, 2015 The airport train is the best. Nearly everybody taking that train to the airport has luggage.
Tara Jane Posted December 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Or you can get the regular train have taken it many times and depending on the time you are travelling can be fine with luggage. JR Yokosuka line, if you aren't in a hurry takes around 2 hours with no change of trains and cost around 2,000 yen. We stayed on in Yokohama for a night after our cruise and as we had a flight early afternoon we also had an extra night staying at one of the narita airport hotels so time wasn't a factor in our plans. http://www.hyperdia.com is a very useful website for train travel in Japan, you can make selections as to what trains you want to use. We aware that some trains charge a seat fee too. Edited December 26, 2015 by Tara Jane
joll Posted December 26, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 26, 2015 You haven't advised where you are staying after the cruise, Yokohama or Tokyo?? Taxis can be very expensive in Japan due to the distance to the airport and traffic delays. Last July we flew into Narita and caught the 'Access Narita Transport' Coach (1000 yen each) from the airport to Tokyo Station. This service was excellent and they have a toilet onboard, supposedly more legroom and are cheaper than their competitor, the 'Limousine Bus' which was 3100 yen each. We were dropped off at Tokyo Station (there is also a Ginza Station stop) and only had to cross the road to where all the taxis were lined up. The 3.4 km ride to our Tokyo Hotel cost 1480 yen. This trip could be done in reverse if you get the details and address of the appropriate bus stop near the station. If you are staying in Yokohama, there is a YCAT bus service direct to Narita airport from their terminal in the Yokohama Sky Building. We would have used this method of getting to the airport after our cruise but decided to do the Princess Debarkation Tour of Tokyo which dropped us at the airport at the completion of the tour. Which ever mode of transport you decide to use in Japan, I'm sure you will be impressed with the service.
