C. Anne Posted December 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2015 I noticed a note on the NCL site of my summary page that says due to security reasons, must be on boat 2 hours before departure (for Roatan that would be 2 PM back on board??), and it also said disembarkation usually begins 2 hours after docking (for Roatan that would be getting off the boat at 10 AM) - this doesn't leave time to do any private excursions. I was looking at one that is 6 hours long, but not through NCL. Is there not enough time for this? Has anyone else booked an excursion through Island Marketing to a beach and had time? Thanks, C. DorothyB Posted December 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2015 The "two hours before" is for the embarkation when you board the ship the first time. At ports, you don't have to be on board that early. Can't remember if it is one hour or 30 minutes, but it isn't two hours.
kchiumento Posted December 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2015 The 2 hours is only the first day when you first board the ship. In all the ports you walk right off and on. There was plenty of time in Roatan for an excursion. Just be the first one off the ship. If my memory serves we actually pulled into the port around 6am. So you aren't pulling in at 8 and getting off at 10. More than likely pulling in at 0600 and able to walk off around 7:30-8.
skeptic555 Posted December 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 29, 2015 On the Dawn, Roatan was a 4:30 back on the ship, I believe. The next day in Costa Maya was early - 2:30 if memory serves.
mattio Posted December 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2015 If you're doing an excursion I recommend a tour though Victor Bodden. We had an excellent tour with them for $30 that included an island tour, wildlife encounter, and time at a beach resort. It was a great tour; they even told us that Norwegian attempted to buy them out and turn it into an official NCL excursion. They wanted to charge $120/pp and give back $20, WOW!
