reeflover Posted January 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2016 We will be on the Prinsendam and I noticed that the early dinner time is 5:45pm and 6:15pm, and, the main dinner time is 7:45pm and 8:15pm.Why are there two seating times for both the early dinner time and the main dinner time? jtl513 Posted January 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) Good question! When we were on the P'dam for a Grand Med segment there was only Fixed dining, one time early and one main, but on other (non Grand) cruises they do both mixed together. Maybe this is something new, with one sitting time in the larger main room, and a different time in the smaller section on the starboard side. I think you'll have call HAL on this one. . dakrewser Posted January 3, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2016 Is there no open dining on that cruise? Looks like a revision to the old times before "As You Wish" dining was introduced which featured to early and two main seatings.
jtl513 Posted January 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2016 Is there no open dining on that cruise? If it's a "Grand" cruise, or segment thereof, there is no Open dining.
take us away Posted January 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) HAL started the 2 fixed seating times to have less stress on the kitchen so the food came out faster, hotter, etc. Almost hate to say this but the WC on the Amsterdam is just now started having any time dining (which has been renamed to choice dining) in the MDR plus the Lido in addition to their standard fixed seating. Not sure what the Gran So Am and Med will do on the Prinsedam. If it all goes anytime dining, may have to look at other cruise lines......
