Balcony on the Breeze?

What is a good regular balcony room on The Breeze? It looks like there are some that overlook a deck below on the ship, and I would rather not to be overlooking that area. Which side, deck, etc.. would be best to be looking straight out at the sea. Was looking at deck 9. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I was also worried about this when I booked a balcony on my Breeze cruise in 2014. I booked on Deck 9 (cabin 9447) and it really wasn't a problem at all. We barely noticed it. You're not exactly "overlooking" Deck 5, you'd have to look down to see it. Maybe it would be more noticeable on Deck 6 or even 7, but above that, no biggie at all.

I would also highly recommend a cove balcony. But get one forward of the midship elevators to avoid being under the galley. As an interior room dweller, I feel that a cove balcony is the only balcony worth paying extra for. It was that awesome!

But, if you have studied it enough & decided that a cove isn't for you, then I'll say this. You will be overlooking the public deck on deck 5, no matter what. But some spots will be very bad, while with other spots, it's barely noticeable at all. Study the deck plans very carefully, especially with the deck 5 lanai. What you will definitely want to avoid is being above any of those 8 spots where the lanai sticks out extra far. The hot tubs will be even worse. It not only sticks out further, but the hot tub sits up higher, blocking a lot more of the view from the balconies above it. Your best spots would be the aft (but still along the side of the ship) or far forward, where the lanai is very skinny. You will still see the deck when you look straight down, but only sticks out a little bit there. If you choose deck 9, get the front of the ship, for the skinny lanai & to avoid having any public areas right above you. Deck 8 would give you this at the front or in the aft.

Deck 10 (lido) is also good for having rooms both above & below you, and again, go towards the front in order to be above the skinny part of the lanai. But I will address one thing that was brought up earlier: the lido deck rooms are absolutely NOT convenient to everything. They are terribly inconvenient for the dining rooms, comedy shows, other shows, other nighttime entertainment, the 3D theater, getting off/on the ship in port, and debarkation. But if you plan to only swim, eat at the buffet, and never get off the ship in port, then for you, it would be convenient to everything. Very few cruisers only do that for the entire cruise. Lido deck rooms are convenient to a few things, but not to everything.

A deck 11 balcony towards the front will be a Cloud 9 Spa balcony. These will also have rooms both above & below, and are even higher up from the deck 5 lanai, making it less of an issue. Plus, being in a Cloud 9 Spa room allows you access to the fancy hot tub & fancy saunas up on the Sun deck. Those are really nice, not crowded, and thoroughly enjoyed by most people. Some people pay $250 or more per couple to have this access, but people booked in a Cloud 9 Spa room get it for free.

On breeze, we had a regular balcony on Deck 6. It was forward, so it was at a spot where the deck below started to narrow and no-one was hardly ever on the deck below us. Because it was at the narrow part of the deck beneath us, it gave us a really good view of the ocean.

I always get a balcony on Deck 7, port side aft of or just in front of the aft elevators. At least a deck of cabins between you and anything else. You do not see the lanai deck (5) unless you stand up and lean on the railing. If elevators are really busy it is an easy walk down to the MDR (gravity works) or up to the lido (wear off the meal before you eat it). Just seems to work well for us. Not a fan of coves since the opening gives a much small viewing area, and there are usually life boats above you. Just my preference.

We booked 10274 on Dream, 10277 on Breeze and Magic, and 10273 on our upcoming Breeze cruise. (10277 was already booked. :()

Lido is an awesome place to be. Not much foot traffic because there are fewer cabins. It's an easy walk from/to cabin for forgotten items, to get something to eat from buffet to enjoy on the balcony, to use the restroom, etc.

Added benefit is that there are five decks-worth of steps to get to Promenade deck, where there are lots of activities, the casino, the Punchliner, the Piano Bar, etc., and six or seven decks-worth of stairs to go to the main dining room. That equals lots of exercise. :D

We only book Lido balcony cabins on ships that have them. (Spirit class ships don't have Lido deck cabins so we book deck 7.)

Enjoy.

We had an aft-wrap on deck 6 on the Dream (same class as the Magic) for a B2B.

And while it does overlook the Lanai deck we found the depth of the larger-than-normal balcony, coupled with little traffic on the Lanai deck near the aft provided us with adequate privacy from below. Never had a problem and would not hesitate to book another aft-wrap on this class ship.

We haven't yet sailed the Breeze (will in March), but sailed the Magic twice. Most of the time when we cruise, regardless of liner, we choose aft extended balcony if it's available. Then we choose mid to aft regular balcony if the aft extended isn't available. However, after having a cove balcony on the Magic the 2nd time we cruised her (primarily to give it a go), we were hooked. Our first time on the Magic, we booked a cabin on deck 9. I can't recall the exact cabin at this moment, but we weren't totally opposed to looking down on deck 5. But after having had both types of balcony rooms on the Magic, I preferred the cove over the regular balcony on deck 9.

If the Breeze had an aft balcony for our March sailing, I would've probably chosen that. However they didn't, so I didn't hesitate to book a cove balcony again. We really like being close to the water line. Not to mention, the balcony feels more private and secluded than other balconies.

Just be careful if you like ext afts on Deck 7. We booked the one next to the wrap and it was much smaller than the middle ext afts on Deck 7. There is no sofa or coffee table. Also the room config is weird. Don't book an ext aft unless the room description specifically says sofa and coffee table, as well as desk and chair. Don't rely on the generic picture.

On the Breeze all balconies overlook the decks except the cove balconies on deck 2.
