Is it better to do the excursion open bar & food????? or better to taxi over and spend as much time as we want? any suggestions?

The real question is: are you going to drink a lot? The all inclusive package really isn't a good value unless you do plan to drink a fair amount.

 

There are other beach club choices that you can go to on your own.

If you decide to taxi over to Playa Mia- you can still purchase your all inclusive packages there - there are several different options and they do sell them direct to the public at the club entrance.

I very much enjoyed the all inclusive. The buffet was very tasty, the beaches very nice. I would suggest asking the bartenders to add a little tequila to their margaritas. They pour them from a premixed jug and I found them to be very, very weak.
