Hotel Day Stay in SJU

Recommended Posts

My flight out of San Juan on 12/30/2005, doesn't leave until 6:25 PM. My family of five and I, are hoping to relax at a hotel for the day. A day pass would be great, I am willing to book the room for the night however.

Can anyone suggest a hotel that is near the water, has a pool and is within a reasonable distance to the airport?

I am open to any ideas and suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

JK

Not sure if they do day passes, but the Intercontinental San Juan is about 5 minutes from the airport, on the beach and has a fantastic pool area. We stayed there in September for 2 nights and were really pleased with the staff and the pool area.

Don't know if it would still be available, but I got the Radisson (close to the beach) for $75 plus taxes for the nights of the 22th and 23rd of December. We haven't stayed there before, but reviews looked okay. When I last checked the Intercontenital was booked solid... at least for the night. We looked at it for post cruise the 31st and 1st.

Hi JK -

I also will be looking for a day stay room in SJ near the airport. My flight on 12/11 does not leave until 5:30 or so. I have been doing some research on this, because there really isn't much for excursions that I haven't been on already.

I have been told by another poster that was on my same cruise this past summer that they just got off the ship early (first debark) and asked a taxi driver where they had such a room. The taxi driver took them to the Water Club. They recommended this to me, as it was a nice hotel on the beach very close to the airport. Go onto the San Juan website and check out hotels and look for the Water Club. I am seriously thinking of looking into this hotel. I tried to e-mail, but did not hear back yet. Since I am going before you, I will let you know as to how this checked out, as I am definitely going to try to use this hotel as a day stay then head out to the airport.

Thank you for the great ideas. I did look into a day pass at Intercontinental. They are available for $150.00, however the earliest they can confirm availability is the day before arrival.

I will look into both the Radisson and the Water Club.

a few years ago we had 7 hrs to waste before our flight. We took a cab over to San Jaun Marriot Stellars on the Condado. The cab ride from the port was $15.00 (only 2 miles) The doorman took all our bags and held them for us behind the desk area on a cart. Gave us a claim check. We told him we were there to have lunch (we did) and play in the Casino. The hotel is on the beach. We could have gone out there. Beautiful pool area too. (thats where we ate) Other then a few tips there were no additional charges. It was a nice day.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites San Juan on Isla Verde Ave. a couple weeks ago for one night before our AOS cruise. The hotel was very clean, had a nice pool with a swim up bar and is only a couple blocks from the beach. It is also only about 5 minutes from the airport. With a 4 pm flight, we inquired about a day pass. The front desk staff checked with management and confirmed a day rate of $75 from 9 am - 5 pm. They indicated to call when we got off the ship to confirm availability. Due to the weather and time we finally got off the ship (11:00 am), we just hung out at the airport. Hope that helps.

Paul.
