Palma is quite a large diverse island with a large tourist population and loads to do. It has a very large port at which cruise ships can dock. Palma town is historic and quite a nice place to visit. There are lots of places to visit with most parts of the island accessible within about 1 hour drive.

Having been to Mallorca (Spanish name opposed to Majorca which is the English name) a few times, there are parts which are busy night time party areas but not likely to be too busy during the day.

Areas like Magaluf/Palma Nova really only coming alive very late at night. These are wall-to-wall packed with drunken party-going teenagers - think 10 times worse than Cancun during spring break. Mallorca is one of the major european holiday destinations for both low cost holidays and for more discerning travellers so caters for both ends of the holiday spectrum - it's a matter of seeking out what appeals to you. Seems a waste to stay on the ship.

There are major water parks, caves, beaches, cathedrals, scenic drives etc all within 30 mins of the port.

Palma is worth the visit. A few years ago on Carnival we did a wine tasting excursion with a visit to an old mansion. Loved the wine, vineyard and the drive. Walked around the town near the port and saw some pretty great yacht's and a big impressive Cathedral.
