Carnival - Coral World/Sea Lion Encounter

I'm looking to take Carnival's Coral World and Sea Lion Encounter for myself and 2 sons, age 7 and 3. The Carnival Website states its a 3 1/2 excursion. I'm thinking that doesn't leave any time to enjoy Coki Beach. Any issues not taking the excursion transportation back, and staying longer to utilize the beach and taking a cab back to the port? The cost for the excursion appears to be a lot less through carnival, than if I booked everything separately, including roundtrip cab fare. Anyone have any thoughts?
