London/Southampton Taxis - do they take credit cards

We are taking the bus from London to Southampton for our cruise that ends in Amsterdam so will have no further use for British lbs. Will the taxis take credit cards or USD in Southampton to the cruise pier?

Hi,

 

Most taxis now take credit cards but it would be best to ask before you get into the cab. If they do they may add a credit card charge.

It would be unlikely that they accept $US, again check before you get in, they may be going on holiday to the states.

The best option is to get some Sterling, if you only need a small amount it would be feasible to go to a hole in the wall (ATM) and get yourself £20.

GBP is widely accepted as Great Britain (or British) Pounds so £20 would be GBP20.

Some do accept plastic (often a small fee), some don't.

But there's a taxi rank at the station, so you can walk along the line asking.

 

If the worst comes to the worst, Silhouette's berth (City Cruise Terminal) is only a fifteen minute level walk from Southampton Central rail station.

 

The taxi fare is about £6.

 

As the Enforcer's post, for those without a £ key, GBP is the usual way to express it - same as USD for those without a $ key.

You probably have got a £ sign by pressing three keys at once - try control and alt and 4, which on my UK keyboard gives me the euro sign € :)
