medic526 Posted February 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2016 Looking to stay for one night pre-cruise at end of March. Anyone have any opinions on this hotel?
FlaGrl4Evr Posted February 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) I've stayed there for a long weekend, back when it was the Best Western Bay Harbor. Since then, it has gone under renovation to update the rooms and other areas of the hotel. We had a good experience. I would not hesitate to stay there again. A few tips... Spend the little extra and get a Bay view room. All of the rooms have a patio or balcony. Request a high floor which will offer a better view. If you are sensitive to noise, request a room away from the pool. There is a restaurant/beach bar to the other side of the pool and at night the music was loud for the rooms in that location. All in all, I really enjoyed staying there. Nice views, good service and a decent restaurant and bar. . kaykay51 Posted February 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Are there any restaurants close by besides the hotel restaurant? How far would the Columbia be? Thanks Kay
cindy1957 Posted February 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2016 You need a cab! 15-20 min.
cruizinnoon Posted February 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I've stayed here for work before. It is definitely good enough for a pre-post cruise hotel. It's not the Ritz, but it's not Ritz pricing either. They have a small on-site restaurant, that's not stellar, but edible. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but for a real dining experience, I'd probably Uber/Cab to Ybor and find something authentic. (Columbia is always a good option :), and very popular with the CC crowd. )
FlaGrl4Evr Posted February 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2016 There are a few restaurants within walking distance to this hotel. The Chart House Whiskey Joe's Plus the Beach Bar and Restaurant located at the hotel. Across the street is Aqua located in the Weston Hotel. Chart House and Aqua is more upscale while Whiskey Joe's and the restaurant at the Bay Harbor Hotel will be casual. . bettyboop16 Posted February 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2016 We stayed 1 night before our cruise Feb. 2015. I thought the hotel was fine. Our room was clean & comfortable. At that time the hotel offered a shuttle to several places in Tampa. It rained the whole time we were there, so we had drinks & food in the restaurant at the hotel "Hogan's Beach" & breakfast the next morning.:)
