Carnival Triumph April 8th - Refurbishments Prior?

Hello All - excited to go on this 8 Day cruise out of New Orleans. This ship has a storied past - and already went through a Fun 2.0 and mechanical upgrade costing $115 million in 2013. This ship is scheduled to be dry docked for 2 weeks right before the April 8th cruise.

 

Any ideas of 2016 Carnival refurbishments for ships that have already had the Fun 2.0 upgrades?

 

Any information is helpful.

I would pretty much expect just routine maintenance.

I had posted a link to the page on the goccl website that showed in was just routine maintenance (new carpet, cleaning) on another thread but they have removed that section from the page. I can't imagine they would do much more than that in two weeks though.

It will likely be routine maintenance. Nothing major. It is standard procedure to dry-dock newer ships every 5 years and older ships every 3 years. The Triumph hasn't had a dry-dock since the engine fire which was 3 years ago.

We sail on 4/4/16 on Triumph out of NO. I believe they are just repositioning and as mentioned before just taking a small break for minor stuff.

Someone on facebook asked John and this is his response:

 

"Good Morning, John, I understand that the Triumph will be going into dry dock at the end of this month. I will be sailing at the beginning of April and wondering what will be done on the Triumph during dry dock. Thanks!

Hi CoolHandLuke, Thanks for posting this thread. We're also cruising on this same cruise leaving April 8th. I didn't realize there would be some refurbishments, renovations, etc.. I'm so excited about this 8 day cruise and this just gives me more to look forward to. Thanks!

Swirls is frozen ice cream/yogurt and cherry on top is a bulk candy store. Not sure about the fish and chips but I don't think so. I am going on April 8th and can check for ya and let ya know what's all on there to eat. [emoji12]

Thanks guys. I thought all the ships had soft serve 24/7 anyway, but at least this confirms it. Getting ice cream any time he wants was my son's favorite thing on our last cruise. I appreciate you all answering my questions.

I believe they currently have the EA Sports Bar. So possibly just rebranding that.

The agreement with EA Sports ended in early 2015, so now they are changing those bars back to Carnival branded bars. The changes are being done when ships are dry docked, so some ships could continue to have the EA Sports branded sports bar for a while. For example, the last drydock on the Pride was late 2014, so unless they plan to shut down the bar and renovate during cruises, that ship will continue to have the EA Sports branded bar for at least the next few years.
