trtllovr Posted February 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2016 Has anyone been there lately? It's right across from the capital building in OSJ and it looks intriguing. I'm curious about its safety (not swimming-wise) for kids. After doing a search there's no mention of it on here unless it's under a different name. Here's the link: http://sanjuanpuertorico.com/playa-pena-old-san-juan-beach/#14/18.4679/-66.1061 I was there last year. It's just down a 30-ft embankment from a busy highway and the city, but the beach itself has no buildings and no facilities of any kind. The embankment is covered with vegetation so you feel cut off from civilization. Beach is maybe 15-20 feet wide, water seems shallow. I did not go into it. Plenty of rocks lying around. I was there in late afternoon-evening. I ran into maybe a dozen people here and there. Didn't see any perverted activities going on. Whether it's safe I guess would depend on who's down there at the time.
