pdx13 Posted February 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2016 We are taking our first Seabourn cruise, Northern Europe soon and I was curious as to whether Seabourn customarily provides transport from port terminals to town if not within walking distance? socalguy2010 Posted February 21, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Generally, our experience has been that if the dock is not located directly in town, Seabourn will provide transportation to town only if it is listed in the Shore Excursions (E.g., Rome on Your Own) for that port - and they charge a pretty penny for it. Shellback2014 Posted February 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Our experiences have been that Seabourn has provided free shuttles from the dock to some central place in town. They run about every 30 minutes, except for a lunch break. They will hand out a printed schedule. Very convenient and easy.
nowornever Posted February 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2016 opinion as Shellback & have never been charged for transfers to the city center unless as part of an excursion. There have been times where ports provide a shuttle...probably furnished by merchants. Quite often if you take a 1/2 day excursion, the guide will give you the option of disembarking the bus in the center of town for shopping/eating & will point out where to catch the return shuttle. A tourist information representative usually boards upon port arrival & will provide maps & tourist advice and a shuttle schedule. If it's a large port, there may be an information desk shore-side instead. It will usually be noted in the nightly newsletter where the rep. will be located. You will have no worries about getting to a central location & if you have a question, you can always ask at the Excursion Desk.

Crystal routinely provides free shuttles that run regularly to and from city centers when the terminal is remote and I was guessing that Seabourn would do the same, but uncertain with fewer passengers, if they would do the same.
