Cheers package from Galveston HELP!

We have an upcoming cruise out of Galveston and we know you can't purchase the Cheers package until the second day. We are planning on purchasing ahead of time on line. Since we can't use the package for alcohol on the first day, can we use it for soda and everything else it includes as soon as we board?

You pay for 4 days on a 5 day cruise. Therefore you have not paid for day one and are not entitled to any benefits.
