Sfullerton Posted October 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2005 While in Copenhagen post cruise August 2004 we took the train over to Malmo Sweden just because we had nothing else planned our last night. We expected to get off in the station for dinner and then return to Copenhagen for an early evening. Much to our surprise the most indredible music festival was taking place. www.malmofestivalen.se.. On 15 different stages throughout the city streets the most incredible music of all genres. BLues, Rock, country western, big bands, Beetles. And food! There was no advertising of it in Denmark that we saw, no notice of it from the Conceirge at the hotel. The only problem was we had bought a 24 hour ticket in Denmark which got us to Sweden but not good on the return and then the Kroener that we had on us was also from Denmark, not Sweden and the conductor collecting on the train on our return was not real happy about taking them. WE should have purchased a ticket. We would have gone to Malmo every night had we known about it earlier. So if doing a pre or post cruise in Copenhagen Aug 18-15 2006 plan on taking the train to Malmo for a free music festival. You won't regret it. Gardendog Posted October 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2005 Or perhaps you can schedule to stay in Malmö for the concert instead of expensive Copenhagen. When I go to Scandinavia, I often stay in Malmö and daytrip to Copenhagen because of the lower hotel prices in Malmö. You could split it up, a few nights in each place.
