booking onboard when schedules aren't released

We did that last year aboard the Constellation. They gave us a voucher to use when the schedules came out. There was an expiration date on it, but the schedules did come out before the voucher expired. Just ask the future cruise consultant.

If the schedule hasn't come out, you can book any cruise. Then when the schedule comes out you just transfer your booking to the cruise you want. The $200.00 onboard credit gets transfered to the new booking. This way, as opposed to the voucher, you have no time limit?

As DMK said just book any cruise, but book one as far distant as possible so the full refund date doesn't sneak up on you. Also, when you re-book, emphasize that they must keep the same booking number for you to get the credit.

If you obtain a voucher, it gives you more time before a deposit is due. Once you book, you can always change the booking later and carry forward the on board credit.

Sorry guys that is not what we were told while on the Mariner in Feb. While they did say there was a one-time switch without losing your shipboard credit, we could not just leave a open booking for the summer 2005. Also, you can not switch (ie. book Jewel switch to Connie) your 200 shipboard credit from one line to the other even tho its the same company. (my good friend who does Princess - she was just off the Coral, can leave as many has 5 open booking at 100pp and have up to 4 years to decide what she wants to book and has the same amount of credit that we get i.e. 100 for 7 days)

That's great, but only saying what happened to me this Feb, they would not let me do it. Wanted to leave money for Summer 2005, baltic, because we closed out of summer 2004,and the cruise consultation said they couldn't.

We obtained a voucher while on the Constellation in May, 2003. In July, booked RCL cruise on Splendor of the Seas. Changed booking to Celebrity Infinity and had no problem switching the credit. I don't know if they have changed the rules, or if it's just a matter of getting someone who really knows what they are doing in customer service. It doesn't seem to be unusual to get different answers! I specifically asked if credit was good for either line and was told it was.

In December we were on the Infinity. We booked RCL's Serenade of the Seas for Alaska. When I got home, I changed to the Mercry. Two weeks after that I changed back again to the Serenade. My booking # and on board credit followed me through all the changes. Who knows, before we leave in September, I can change my mind (and ship) again !!!

Until we set sail to Alaska on the Serenade of The Seas
