Sorry, I'm not sure what the level of points needed to get a DOU card the next cruise. I was told that at 5000 you got the bounce back offer of free interior and the DOU next cruise. I could be wrong and you only get the "free" cruise. I've heard before that 2500 could get you a DOU card, no free cabin. Others have said it depends on how soon after your last cruise that you take the next as to whether you get the card or not.... supposedly after 18 months all incentives go away.

About 3+ years ago the comps upfront were a lot better, gifts in the room, cash waiting at the cage, DOU card that was unlimited, Free dinners at the specialty restaurants, etc. Not so much anymore.

According to an e-mail reply I got from Casino Services a few weeks ago, you must earn 5,000 points on a cruise to get the drinks on us card for the next cruise.

I earned over 2,500 points and got a great casino offer, but they said it won't earn me the DOU card for that cruise.

Thanks, that's what I thought but was not sure. I will know in a little over 60 days as to whether we get the DOU card or not with 5000 points and taking the "free" cruise offer.

I can totally relate (seriously).. When cruising with my sister, brother in law and nephews (their sons) if we want to see them we have to visit the casino. Now I gamble too but they wait at the door like the commercial OPEN OPEN OPEN ... day in and day out although they do get off the ship with us on port days !!! If you ask my them how the shows on the ship were they answer "There's shows on the ship?" cause they've never been :( And yes, all 4 of them get/have gotten and use casino incentives to book their next cruise ... Oh, and yes, my brother in law and one of the nephews have also missed dinner because they won't leave the "hot" machine or "hot" table ...

Sadly, that is funny, but, you obviously do know what I'm talking about. My husband takes tons of pics on every cruise. I gave them copies of the one we went on together. Friends of theirs remarked as to why they were only in 2. Well, I took one of her at the black jack table and one of him playing craps. Like you said I would only see them if I went to the casino. In those days we never gambled at the ship's casino. Last 2 cruises we have probably spent $100. each, per day. This will not get you the free drink card. But, as we buy Cheers! now, can get a drink from that. But, don't hold your breathe waiting for a server. We get our drink 1st and then play. We only play slots. And as I am sure you know, $100. will go so fast, you don't need a second drink! Thanks for sharing, nice to know I am not the only one.:)

Silly question I am sure but how are the points earned? I have never played in the Casino but might have to try my luck in May when I go on the Breeze.

With slots it's pretty much straight forward, you get points for each dollar played, regardless of where the dollar comes from... whether it comes from your wallet/purse or winnings you make on the slot machine. $2.50 equals 1 on slots except on video poker which is $5 for 1 point.

So the way to get lots of points is to WIN!!!! otherwise it's expensive!

Table games do garner you points as well but the method is not known to the us cruisers, and quite frankly I don't think to anyone else... I think they just pull a number out of a hat and say "this is your point status!"... If you sit for more than 4 hours a day and play over $50 a hand you will get some offers.

And, I think, and I'm sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, you have to get 1500 points to get a "free" drink card.

1500 is generally the number to hit on 7 nights and longer, I've heard 1000 to 1200 for 5 night and 1000 for 4 nights, some say it's not offered on 3 night cruises.

 • 1 month later...

DH & I have been cruising Carnival for a few years now, but are just starting to try & figure out the casino comps. We booked our last (7 night) cruise as well as our upcoming 4 nighter with a discounted casino rate DH received via his VIFP number.

We are blackjack table only players, so trying to figure out the "points system" used for comps has been very difficult. On the last cruise DH got a plate of cookies delivered to the room on night 2 and a DOU card on night 3. No PMB offer though, although 3 of our tablemates we'd been playing with all week received them on the last night from the pit boss.

Is there any way of knowing if he can get a DOU card upon boarding without knowing how many points he ended the last cruise with? And does anyone know any tips to help increase the chances of receiving a PMB offer (or any other reduced offer) as a table player? For example, does it make a difference if we buy in with cash or chips?

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

I always buy in with cash as I was told years back it makes a difference.....Even if I have $500 in chips I'll cash those out and start fresh....it must make a diff cause the dealer will state cash or chips when you r buying in to the pit boss

Here's a point breakdown also for slots and tables

How points are calculated

Slots

Every $2.50 ran through machine = 1 point

Video Poker

Every $5 ran through machine = 1 point

Texas Holdem Tables

No points are earned

Table points are calculated as follows

Amount of bet x hours played

For example, to earn the 200 required points for the DOU card it would take:

$15 per hand x 16 hours

$25 per hand x 8 hours

$50 per hand x 4 hours

$100 per hand x 2 hours

CCL is now transitioning in a new tracking system fleet wide for table players by 2016

Currently available on all the newer ships, the dealer swipes your card upon initial buy-in.

I'm mainly a table player and have been getting premier invites for the last 2 years.......Its the only way we've been cruising

This was a super informative thread for me. I have never sailed Carnival and will be sailing in Sept - My sister and I will be sailing together - and we both enjoy some play - so after reading this I have some questions that you all might be able to help me understand.

Are your points carried over from cruise to cruise?

The Drinks on Us card - I thought I read on a different thread that it was 1 drink - but from reading this that is not the case - so are these drinks on the DOU just in the casino?

With being a west coast gal I suspect Carnival sailings will be in my future.

The DOU card allows you Free drinks while in the casino only and its up to 15 drinks per day......If you already have Cheers you still only get 15 drinks per day MAX even with having the DOU

Points don't carry over cruise to cruise for the DOU CARD but if you get 5,000 points on one cruise you do automatically get the card on your next cruise......If you didn't reach the 5,000 points then you have to get 1,500 again to get the card

When you get 7,500 points in a 12 month period you then are eligible to start getting the premier casino invites
New to casino playing on cruise, how do you join the premier club and get offers.
You'll start getting offers based on your play and points from your cruise.....If your playing the tables and play a minimum of $25 per hand tell the floor man you'd like to be rated

Offers start coming pretty quick and sometimes people get them that hardly gambled much
