Question about Dining rooms

This is our first time on Norwegian. Been on Carnvial,RC,AND MSC. We were on the understanding that we could dine what ever time we wanted and then we were making our show times and we noticed that they had table resv. for the dinning rooms and how many at each table. We have a party of 16. There were 2 nights we could not get tables for. So what we are wondering is there anyway we can still get to one dining rooms for dinner ? I have never read anything about getting the tables on line before we go.

Thanks for your help

Dinner reservations are optionally available on NCL's mega ships, they aren't required - some folks feel better doing it, especially at peak time to avoid waiting in lines (there is one for walk-ins or walk-ups & no reservsations; and, a 2nd. line for those with reservations - as both "groups" still need to have their guest keycard swiped & escorted by the host/ess to the table)

For a larger group, say like 10 to 12 people or in your case, 16 - it's easiest if you can dine at 5:30 or 6 PM depending on which MDR preferred - as they are just opening and easier to get everyone seated promplty ... with or withOUT advanced reservations.

Can you make 2 reservations for group of 8 people each, at the same time - online now ? If so, then go see the host/ess or reservation desk on day 1 upon embarkation; and, speak to them about combining the group together for a big (long table) party of 16 - or, at least make sure they linked the 2 tables together and get you seated next to each other/side by side or whatever. Services would probably be a bit faster & easier with 2 teams of waiters/assistants for a group of 8 each, instead of 1 waiter & assistant for a group of 16.

Not all of the tables are available for online reservations in advance, as a percentage of tables are held for walk-ups onboard.
