Viking Homelands questions

I will be on the May 15, 2016 Viking Homelands itinerary, Stockholm to Bergen on the Star. I am so very excited for this trip and so thankful to all of you who have already sailed for your reports, blogs and insights. All of the information has made my planning so much easier!

 

I have two outstanding questions. First, is there anyone out there who has done the Viking Stockholm pre-trip? I want to make the most of the day we're transferred to the ship and would like to know when you were picked up at the hotel and how long things took at the ship. Would they take just your luggage and not you? I did contact Viking but I'd also some "real" experiences.

 

Second, has anyone taken the Lubeck/Wismar optional excursion? How much free time did you have in Lubeck? I'm trying to decide whether or not to DIY it (I know cost is much less on my own). I had hoped to visit a friend that lives in Germany that day, but he can't make it so I'm on to plan B.
