Shore excursion credit

Hi Everybody. Hope all of you are well.

Just a quick question about the shore excursion credit. When we booked our cruise we received a $75 shorex credit per port.

Is this just a $75 credit onto our onboard account on the ship per excursion we book? or is it deducted from the total cost of the shore excursion?

Thanks for any help.

Happy cruising.

I'm not sure what the practical difference is between the two options you described. It is credited to your account if you purchase shore excursions, and it is deducted from your shore excursion total in each port. You can look at it either way.

You have to spend all $75 on excursions in a single port. Maybe that is what you are asking. If your excursions cost less than that, you don't get to keep the extra as general OBC, and it doesn't carry over as shorex credit to the following port, either.

Ok what i meant was, I have just booked a shore excursion using the number provided to use the promo. However, When it shows up on my planner, it shows as full price without any deduction for my shore excursion credit.

I was just checking to see if this is normal and i will receive a credit on my onboard account, Or should i have received $75 off of the total for the excursion.

Oh, I see. Make sure they do not require full payment in advance (people have reported problems with this, see here for example). Everything is charged on board, and the credit applied at that time. At least that is how it is supposed to work. Bring along some documentation of your $75 credit, just in case.

You are correct, I was advised that we would need to make full payment for the excursions at the same time as final payment.

We have the $50 Shore Excursion Credits. When I called to book our excursion, the rep told me Canadians are booking and paying in full now, and then the $50(s) would be applied as OBC (in US dollars) to your account.

I suspect this is also going to be the case for us.

I would be unhappy about this arrangement. Will the credit applied on board be refundable, or will you have to spend it on something else during the cruise?

The shore excursion credit was already one of the worst perks (in my opinion), and this makes it even less attractive. :(

We had this last June. In our case, we booked only 2 excursions via NCL and one on our own. Paid up,front and then a received an OBC for the total credit.

That as under the AllInclusive promo that they had last year.

We know how things change.

We are similiar. We have had our cruise booked for well over a year now, and do not sail until December 3rd, So we had all of the packages (Haven) when they were first released and more than likely when they were best (without the changes).

So if it is an onboard credit refund, shall more than likely not get used due to us having $300 already to spend onboard. Plus all of our drinks and food. Not sure what else we can spend it on to be honest. Suppose it is not a bad problem to have.

I booked the same way that you did, by calling the number, and they told me during the conversation that the booking would show on my onboard account and the $75 credits would also show. And the tickets will be in the cabin when we arrive. I had 4 of these bookings at different times and it sounded like they were reading from a script. Surprised they didn't do this for you.

No, it is not refundable. I have read here last year that people take it out at the casino with a 3% fee taken out.

If that is not true I am sure someone will "educate " me

You only get the $50 OBC for EACH excursion. We are only doing one excursion, so only getting $50 in OBC. If you don't do any excursions, you get nothing in OBC.

Once they apply the OBC, you can use it any way you want.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if they only apply the $50(s) to your account once the excursion(s) has been taken because someone could always cancel up to a certain point in time.
