Rare huntr104 Posted March 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2016 I looked at Royals website for this excursion and I think my kids would love to swim with stingrays. But when I look at the details for this excursion it says that it may be fine for families with small children. But it also says that age restrictions MAY apply. My kids are 6, and my daughter will be one month shy of turning 3. Would they both be able to do this excursion? Thank you
davidasman Posted April 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2016 I did this excursion (actually, proposed on it, as well) last June. It's probably totally fine for your 6 year old, but the 3 year old is likely too little. You hop on 12-15 passenger open boats with benches across and have a briefing on the stingrays and the enclosure. It's about a 5 minute boat ride to the enclosure dock. You get in and walk around on the sandbar. I think there were around 60 stingrays (only one male!) and you can feed them squid if you choose to, take pictures with them, just pet them, etc. They are TOTALLY safe and as I did my first Stingray City (Grand Cayman) as a 7 year old, I think your 6 year old would really enjoy...but maybe find something else for the 3 year old just because of height and depth of the water. It's really a standing/walking around thing. I suppose you could float the little one along in a life vest? It's a short excursion...in and out in under 2 hours probably. Maybe closer to 90 minutes.
