Jamie_lou1987 Posted March 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Hello! My DH and I have a cruise planned for June on the Triumph. We just upgraded to a 8b balcony. Room 7392. I've never had a balcony room before and was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the room? What's the best thing about having a balcony? Thanks! cbCRR Posted March 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Which sailing are you on? We just upgraded to a balcony guarantee. Can't wait to see where we end up. Great price!
mselcheapola Posted April 6, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2016 We are sailing June 25. How do you get the upgrade guarentees? This is our first time cruising. We are being offered interior cabin on lido deck for $1100ish. We have read reviews that balconies arent really a necessity so we decided we can survive. We are very interested in the excursions. Ideas? Advice? Opninions? Im a little leary about being high up being it a first time We are traveling with relatives who have a junior suite so we just gonna hop on their balcony if need be. Thanks
cheermomof2girls Posted April 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2016 We sailed on the Triumph last year in a GS Suite room 7299 and the balcony was amazing. We originally booked an ocean view, but we took an upgrade call that was offered and now we will only cruise with a balcony! We spent a lot of time on the balcony and in our room. We have two kids though, and we relaxed a lot on vacation!

Thanks My last cruise was 5 years ago but it was on the Triumph. We had an interior room on Lido and LOVED it! I was two turns away from being on the deck. Loved it. In Cozumel we swam with dolphins. It was a long time ago so I don't remember name of the excursion, but it was amazing. In Progresso we did the Myan ruins. A shorter tour but it was still cool. I would take the room on Lido! grammi Posted April 6, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2016 Once you have a balcony you may never be able to go back. In the top 5 list of favorable experiences on our cruises is having room service coffee, croissants, and fresh fruit on the balcony in our pjs. Also in the top 5 is having a glass of our carry on wine on the balcony at sunset, and another is napping/reading a book on our balcony on sea days. I could never go back. springs741 Posted April 6, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 6, 2016 We are sailing June 25. How do you get the upgrade guarentees? This refers to booking a balcony but letting Carnival assign the stateroom rather than you choosing. The stateroom will be assigned anywhere between the day you book and the day you sail. You may get one of the best rooms on the ship or you might get one of the worst. There is little you can do if you do not like your location, especially in peak sail times. It is a way to save some money if you are flexible about location.

cbCRR Posted April 7, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 7, 2016 Oh and we are going on June 20! So you'll be going on as we are coming off! Lol. That's the same cruise I'm on! Join the roll call - it's too quiet over there right now. Still waiting on my cabin assignment, but looks like there are still quite a few available. We switched from an assigned oceanview to a guarantee balcony for $0 increase! Bookings must be down for this sailing. I'm very excited for our first balcony, and to see which one Carnival will choose for us. We aren't picky, as we usually book an inside.
cruiseonthebrain Posted April 7, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 7, 2016 For me there are several "best" things about a balcony room. First is the little bit of outdoor private real estate I get away from the crowd. Second is that I don't feel like I am sleeping in a closet. Third is getting to prop that door open and hear the waves lull me to sleep. Have fun! I hope you love it!!!!
kayhold Posted April 7, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 7, 2016 We have a Lido Balcony for June 6th. I ALMOST went guarantee but my sailing had a lot of upper deck balconies left over and I just don't want to risk getting stuck above a band or casino with a small toddler trying to sleep. I just got back from Triumph and was upsold to a balcony. I agree with all your best things plus a couple others. Breakfast on the balcony with a cup of hot tea. Quiet place to read. Good place to wait for my cabin mates who take longer to get ready for everything. Next balcony - a cove balcony on Magic.
jackha2014 Posted May 15, 2016 #17 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Always get a balcony since first time got one. Just makes room feel larger and someplace to sit and relax away from everything. Plus not as annoying when waiting for the wife to finish getting ready.

I've never had a balcony room before and was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the room? What's the best thing about having a balcony? Thanks! No pictures but we stayed in a standard balcony on deck 7, midship on the Triumph. Very quiet as there are cabins above and below and a small but good enough deck to enjoy some fresh air and ocean/sunrise/sunset views.
