emang Posted May 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Hello, I am booked for both of these tours and had some questions. I always bring my own snorkel gear, should I bring the fins for these tours or just plan on reef shoes. It sounds like at times the fins might be cumbersome in the shallows. Are cameras safe? I have an underwater digital, but would like to bring a video camera & an SLR, neither of which would be tolerant of water. Thanks, Jeff
emang Posted May 3, 2004 Author #2 Share Posted May 3, 2004 One other quick note... If Mr. Gorgone sees this, please send Bruno a different e-mail address. He has not been able to respond to the one you are providing. Jeff
PattyCruise Posted May 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Jeff, We did both tours in March. I would take fins just in case. Kathy who was on our boat had these really cool short fins. I think she got them at Costco. We had non waterproof cameras and video and it was just fine. Jacqueline Posted May 3, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Actually with fins I found that it was very easy to negotioate the coral and NOT HIT ANYTHING. I did drift snokel with my two daughters. None of us got a scratch. People without fins were stuck and had trouble getting thru. We actually had enough time that we did the narrow pass at Tahaa twice. marc334 Posted May 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I buy those disposable underwater cameras-they are cheap and take good pictures
Deluzy Posted May 3, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Jeff, Glad you asked that question as I was thinking the same thing! So, if I am understanding the responses, we can bring our video camera and it should be safe (I'm assuming it's left on the catamaran with our stuff)?? ~Suzy "Our" Maiden Voyage: Tahitian Princess Aug.

kb9mu Posted May 4, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I bought some long velcro straps and I used them to lash my camera to the seat in the boat so that while I was in the water, it wouldn't fall off the seat and land in the puddles in the boat. They worked great. KB9MU
Toto2Kansas Posted May 4, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 4, 2004 When we take our video or digital camera on any water tours, I always take along a couple waterproof bags to store them in. Just in case it rains or things get a bit rough. Better to be safe than sorry! Tahitian Princess 10/14/04 RCI-Legend of the Seas 3/27/05 Panama Canal. One Phantom Booking still open with Princess.
