Port to SOU

We will be coming into Southampton from a trans-Atlantic on Silhouette next month. I am renting a car from the Southampton Inter. Airport then returning it at Heathrow.

Any suggestions on getting from the Port to the Airport cheaply?

Thanks, Banjo

Taxi to the airport will cost a great deal more than £5-£10.

More like £15 pre-booked eg http://www.westquaycars.com or £20 from the rank at the cruise terminal.

Or a 15-20 minute walk to Southampton Central train station, then frequent trains (every 10 to 15 minutes) take 10 mins to Southampton Parkway/Airport. Train fare £3.70.

A taxi from the cruise terminal to Cental station costs about £7, so cost-wise if you take a taxi you might as well take it all the way (which you'll probably want to do anyway if it's raining ;))

Car rental booth is at the entrance to the short-term parking opposite the airport terminal.

Guessing that this is an Avis rental, the others also have depots close to your cruise terminal
