shows before 11pm departures?

Hello...our ship, the Golden, departs San Juan @11pm. Will we be expected to go thru a drill after that time? Will there be shows available? I've not cruised on a ship that left so late and am not sure what to expect.

I'm interested as well. My husband and I have taken several cruises, but have never left at this time either. Can anyone provide some insight!

You can leave the ship after you have checked in and boarded. DW and I arrived around 1115, were on board by 1230, stowed our carry-on in the room, had lunch and left the ship to play tourist in OSJ. Life boat drill was at 8 PM.

 

Sailaway party started by the Calypso Pool at 1045. Welcome Aboard Showtime in the Princess Theater at 10:15. Music in the Explorer's Lounge at 8:45 with Singles Ice Breaker at 9:30. Vista lounge had a local act from San Juan (Latin Show) at 6:30 and 8:45. Wheelhouse Lounge had dance music from 5:30 to 9:15 with a one hour break at 7:30 for the boat drill. Skywalkers cranked up the music at 9:45 with an 18-21 year old get-together at 9:45. Tunes in the Promenade Lounge started at 9:30.

 

Depending on who you believe, Golden is scheduled to sail from OSJ pier #4 this season vs the PanAm dock where it has normally sailed from. OSJ pier #4 would be an ideal location for getting back off the ship because you wouldn't need a taxi to get to the tourist sights in OSJ vs the PanAm dock.

Lifeboat drill on the Golden last spring was about 7:30 pm, seemed to be timed to occur between 1st and 2nd seating in the DRs.
