mtnsofthemoon Posted April 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2016 I did run a search before posting this and did not find any results. We will be in the port of Chania in July. Our ship will be there from 8:00am until 5:00pm. We want to spend the majority of the day at Balos Beach. What is the best way to get there? Bus, taxi, rent a car or some ferry boat? Most videos I found on youtube show people driving cars and what looks like hiking down to the beach. We are experienced, independent travelers and do not take cruise tours (except perhaps for visiting ruins). Information and guidance is greatly appreiated. We are a family of 4 with a 20 yr old DS and a 13 year old DD.
Pluto_fan Posted April 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2016 I haven't figured out what we're going to do during our stop in Chania. Just googled Balos and found this article, which is pretty helpful and describes how to get there by ferry, car, or hiking: http://www.cretanbeaches.com/en/sea-tourism/west-crete-beaches/balos-lagoon-beach Balos beach looks lovely...thanks for the idea! Happy cruising!
