change of intenary while on board

If your ship has to change ports due to storms or whatever and you go to a new port does Carnival put together any shore excursion packages or do you just dock and try to find something at the new port? I realize it is usually very short notice so didn't think Carnival could arranage something so quickly. At most ports are there usually reputable excursions to be found and how do you know which ones are, since this would be a last minute change and don't have the benefit of this board (and others) to determine good companies? Thanks for your help, just thinking ahead as don't what crinkle Wilma might do to our cruise next week.

While we were embarking on our 9/18 Victory cruise we were told that our eastern carribean itinerary was changed to a western itinerary due to Rita and other tropical storms. Within a day or two Carnival had excursions available for booking at the desk and in the cabins through the interactive televisions. We had an excursion on St. Maarten booked and E-mailed her from the internet cafe cancelling.

From what I can tell they actually print out the list of shore excursions available at each port of call during the cruise...For my Conquest cruise we found out that the itenerary would change to Progreso and Cozumel rather than the usual MoBay, GC and Coz and there was a booklet of available excursions available by the second day we were onboard. Keep a look out at the Purser's Desk and the Shore Excursions. That's where we found ours. Plus outside the doors of the main lounge during and after the CD did his talk about the ports of call.
