Fort Lauderdale - Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn

Reading the boards here the Holiday Inn Express at the convention center appears to be a favorite. However, the Comfort Inn at 2520 Stirling Road in Hollywood was recommended as a favorite by someone else in a different board. I'm looking for March 2006 and the Comfort Inn is $99 to the Holiday Inn Express $128. Both offer shuttles from the airport and to the port. Anyone have experience with the Comfort Inn?

Some reviews on the Holiday Inn Express seem to indicate that while its in a nice area the beds are terrible.

Any help would be nice. Thanks.

Well of all the Trip Advisor reviews there were 2 that mentioned that the mattresses are softer than they like - That's one of those things where you're never going to please everyone - Some people like them soft, some like them firm.

Holiday Inn Express "Convention Center" on SE 17th Street is a nicer hotel in a much nicer area. There are many many restaurants, shops, grocery, drug & liquor stores as well as the very popular Water Taxi all within easy, safe walking distance. It's also much closer to the airport and just outside the entrance to the port.

We're reserved at the Holiday Inn Express. Thank you for your help. Do you have any idea how long it takes to get bags from the airport and then to the hotel? We're arriving at 3:30 in the afternoon and wanted to know about when we'd arrive at the hotel so we could potentially plan a trip to the King Tut exhibit that evening.

Thanks again!
