Carnival Freedom 4/16-4/23/16 Review

We decided to have brunch in the dining room this morning. While it was good, it wasn’t my favorite. Today we kind of split up all day long, the guys went to the casino, the girls tanned up on Lido, we listened to music, and just spent the day enjoying all the things we love about cruising. After brunch I started packing up the things we wouldn’t need for the remainder of the day. We always put our bags out the night before for the luggage porters to take. Makes it easier for us to get off without lugging all that around and if I’m being completely honest, I’m not sure I could! We were given zone 6 so no too long of a wait. We saw Rahmet several times today and it made me very sad that tomorrow he wouldn’t be turning down my bed and making me a towel animal. 

We all got ready for dinner and made our way down to the dining room around 6:30. Unfortunately, Alex’s section was completely full so we were in Marija’s section. Marija and her team were just as fabulous and accommodated all our needs.

After dinner we went back to the room to finish packing to make sure our bags were out and ready to go. We had a long day tomorrow with a 9 hour drive so we were off to bed after watching a couple of game shows.

Up Next: Disembarkation and a LONG drive

I had arranged for a wakeup call this morning since our alarm clock was packed away and long gone, but go figure, I was up before the call came. That call is tricky too, took me a minute to figure out how to turn it off. We got up, showered, and gathered up our group. Off to the Blue Iguana for my beloved tacos. This was my first cruise with a ship that had Blue Iguana and I must say that it is by far my FAVORITE part of the ship!! We have a girl’s trip planned later this year and this will be where I’m at every morning and maybe lunch too!

We all hung around until they started calling zones. They called zones 3-10 and we proceeded down to the lobby. I hate that ride down and prolong it as much as I can. We waited in the “passport” line forever. I’m not sure what was taking so long, but finally someone told us we could go through any line. We finally got up to the Customs agent who proceeded to ask Jay and I what we did for a living, we answered and were on our way. I’ve never been asked this before, but okay. Our luggage was all ready and waiting and we were headed out to the loading zone. Mike and Jay went to get the trucks from parking while we all waited with the luggage. There were a few shed tears and hugs exchanged with an “I’ll see you soon!” We were loaded up and on our way by 8:30am. Bravo Port of Galveston!!

We stopped in Rockwall to drop off Shane and Brittney and proceeded to make our way home. It was a long day, but it was totally worth it to crawl in our bed tonight!

So there are a few things that I didn’t mention while writing this review that I was going to touch on. This are minor things that truly didn’t have a negative effect on our cruise.

First, if you look closely at the picture I posted of the bathroom in our cabin you will see that our showerhead is pointed at the wall. I didn’t even notice this until the second sea day. Jay must’ve rigged it somehow that first day because it was perfectly fine, but it wouldn’t stay up more than 20-30 seconds. It was a pain to deal with, but oh well!

Second, when we arrived in our room there was white stuff around our balcony door. Apparently they had to put up weather stripping and it was awful. Jay removed it initially because that’s how bad of a job it was, some was inside, some was outside, and a little bit was on the actual door frame. Upon closing the door we quickly found out why they had attempted to put it up. Jay got it back out of the garbage and reapplied it to the door frame. MUCH better! Throughout the week it got a bit sloppy and he had to fix it a couple of times. Again, not a huge deal!

Third, this one is just kind of funny. One of the days Rahmat had removed our bed skirt and sent it down for laundering. There is apparently a schedule, as I asked where it was, and it was our day. While our bed skirt was gone I had to get under the bed to get in one of the suitcases and there was random trash under the bed. I’ll just say that there’s no telling what you may find. When our bed skirt came back I again got under our bed and there was an extra skirt under there…strange!

I hope you all have enjoyed my review as much as I loved re-living our cruise! See you all again soon!

Can you show or tell me what kind of underwater camera you used? I bought one last year for snorkeling in Cozumel and pictures didn't come out really good. My fiancé is highly interested in doing the subs so we may have to put some money into that excursion. Looks like a lot of fun!!

This is crazy, I know Kevin! He and I went to school together. Small world, huh? LOL

I really enjoyed your review, we were on the Freedom in January and had a great time. :)

How cool that you know Kevin! That means you're from B'ville, as am I. Small world!!

I bought the Olympus Tough TG-860. There may be a newer version out by now, but I absolutely LOVE it! It works great as a point and shoot for either dry or wet shots. I cannot stress enough how fun the underwater SUB's were. It seems like a hefty price tag at first, but it was oh so worth it. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Really enjoyed your review! We will be sailing on her 9/16. Smallest ship we have ever been on. Have been worried about that, but, you guys seemed to have had a great time.:)

Appreciate the tip about "port, left, even. Have been on many cruises and just never bothered to try and figure it out. This tip is fool proof.:D

Can't help but wonder how you ordered your eggs? If you don't like them runny, over hard is the way. Anything else is a "who knows" what you will end up with.

We have been to these ports often enough that now we just go to The Green Parrot Pub, website, GreenParrotBar.com really had a good time there. 'Course our zipline and strenuous excursion days are over, woke up lately and realized I am older than dirt!

Your husband in some of your pics, reminds me of a young Woody Harrelson, when he was cute and not weird.;)

Wanted to respond to bump you back up again as you are now on the 3rd page and I am sure others would benefit from your review. Thanks again!

Glad my tip helped you out! It was at the omlette station where I felt like he didn't cook my omlette long enough, it was almost slimy if that makes sense. Maybe it was the cooking spray he used? I have no clue! We'll have to check out the Green Parrot Bar next time we visit KW. We love it there!

PS-I think my Hubby is a pretty good catch! ;)
