douknowme Posted May 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2016 So excited! Today, booked my very first mediterranean cruise for me, DH and 8 year old daughter for August 2017. Also excited I was able to get cabin 1700. This is our first time on FOS (been on the Adventurer, Oasis and going on Allure this August). The itinerary looks awesome! Hear great things about FOS so looking forward to exploring it. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

micmacmissy Posted May 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2016 We also had that room on Indy- even with two kids, plenty of room! There are photos of the room in my Indy link in the signature if you care to see...lots of space, even with the sofa bed open!
lilkickgang Posted May 5, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2016 You have yourself an awesome cabin! My family of 4 had that cabin for a 5 night cruise during Thanksgiving week in 2014. Plenty of space...Even hung a hammock on the oversized balcony! Loved it so much we booked the same room on Indy for this Thanksgiving week (returns Thanksgiving morning) and friends of ours snagged the matching one on the opposite side. You'll love it! vickiw0318 Posted May 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2016 DH had to pry my fingers off the balcony railing to get me off the ship when we had that cabin on the Indy. You will have a great trip.

So, the pole in room is a nonfactor? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
vickiw0318 Posted May 5, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 5, 2016 It was to us. I think we put some of the sofa cushions around it at night though. It was close to the end of the bed so we were concerned that we might walk in to it when the room was dark and we were groggily headed to the facilities. I don't think we ever came close though. mollyeilis Posted May 6, 2016 #15 Share Posted May 6, 2016 The pole was a factor for us. Alas I found a picture or two of a dude in his boxers with his leg on it or around it or something. And my imagination took hold. So, even though I'm not a disinfecting sort of person, I had DH sanitize it top to bottom the moment we walked in the room. I just kept imagining my son touching it and I was getting really grossed out. (not that him touching all that sanitizer would be better, but still) And I did worry about it when I got up to use the bathroom. But DS and I had been very sick during our Orlando stay (which was 3 weeks long prior to the cruise) so I was unsteady on my feet from 2 weeks of barely eating, and some vertigo problems. I don't think DH had a problem at all. And I'm not sure DS got up even once for that in the night. other than that pole, and I do understand that it's load bearing, the room was great. Dett Posted May 6, 2016 #16 Share Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) We had 1400 on Freedom in January for B2B2B. I could have stayed more than the 3 weeks. Love that cabin!! :) Pole did not bother us at all. In fact we tied a line around it and put a hook to hang things. micmacmissy Posted May 7, 2016 #19 Share Posted May 7, 2016 The link is here for anyone else who may want to look: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1782311 Pole was a non-issue for us. So outweighed by the size of the room and balcony; I was really surprised that this room was priced as a regular cabin. You'll have a great trip! Johndoe813 Posted May 8, 2016 #20 Share Posted May 8, 2016 Thx Johndoe813. So, the pole in room is a nonfactor? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app To be honest after the first day i forgot the pole was even there. The Balcony size and the room size made up for the pole by 1000x
