Casino offers

I will respond as I have noticed that, that sometimes causes others to respond, if for no other reason than to disagree with me.:)My parents get casino offers all the time. They only pay port charges and taxes. So, obviously, there isn't anything lower. My husband gets casino offers. They aren't as good as the ones I find and book early saver. And when I have compared, his don't have the price drop options that our early saver does. I usually do very well as we book almost a year ahead. Those days seem to be gone now. I check faithfully everyday and for the last 2 cruises, I haven't found any drops. But, at least that means I got the best price.! Happy Cruising!

Are they eligible for price drops?

The thing to do with casino offers is this... if the cruise you are looking at still has an Early Saver rate... book Early Saver.. then price match to the casino rate..... That way if a lower price comes available, whether it is casino rate, or another special, or regular price has dropped, you CAN get the price drop... If you price match to the casino rate, you still get your obcs and discounts... but if you match to a different rate, you will lose your obcs if you had one with your casino offer...

Always remember... once Early Saver, always early saver, even after you price match to another rate..

The only exception to this is if you price match to a pack and play offer which is a guarantee rate... if you change to a guarantee rate, which you can do only once... you cannot change back.

Exactly how I originally booked. ES first then when I called Carnival one time they offer me a special rate. BUT...I thought that removed me from the Early Saver rate. Apparently not. :). My price drop just paid for FTTF :).

The only way it would remove you from the Early Saver rate would be if you booked a guarantee rate...

I am currently booked at a casino rate... Booked Early saver, then price matched my Casino rate immediately after booking...:D

Ugh. Never thought of this!!!!!! In the past I've just upgraded cabins as prices dropped. Not going to do it this time with a Cove.

I booked a casino rate and two weeks later it went down so I called up the promotions department and they lowered it no questions asked. Also, final payment is not due yet and I could cancel with no penalty charged and rebook if there is a lower price. Not sure after final payment is due if I would be able to cancel with no penalty.

That is why you are able to get price reductions before Final Payment, there is no Penalty, thus no reason for Carnival not to honor the lower price since you could just cancel the cruise and rebook.

After Final Payment you are in the penalty portion of the cruise contract and there is no incentive (or reason actually) for Carnival to reprice the cruise. Unless the cancelation penalty is less than the price reduction you couldn't save anything by canceling and rebooking.

If you could get price reductions after final payment on other rates, there would be no incentive to book Early Saver.

That makes a lot of sense! In fact, I feel it answers all of the above questions.:)

At the risk of sounding completely dumb....I have to ask. If we booked ES, then matched a casino rate w/ $100 casino cash, if we match to Resident Rates, will we lose the casino cash?

We've never been able to match to a casino rate until now and the resident rate is only $27 less...but OBC is OBC. I don't want to lose our casino cash though.

Thank you!

Yes, you will lose the obc. this is something you have to factor in when price matching. In this case, don't price match, keep your casino rate.

Anytime you are booked with obc, if you want to price match, if the new rate comes with obc, you would be okay. Unless it is less than what you have offered already.
