Elderly husband in wheelchair - Freeport and Nassau

We have been to Nassau many times. My husband relies on a wheelchair now and can only walk limited distances. I would love to go to the beach, but don't want to go for a day pass, just an hour or two. If we took a taxi or walked to Junkanoo Beach, how would It work out with the wheelchair. I thought we might go to Paradise Island by water taxi, but I read that it could be tricky for him.

We haven't been to Freeport in a number of years. Any suggestions as to what we might do there would be appreciated.

We are on the Carnival Conquest 7-7-16.

The taxis in Nassau are to my knowledge all vans or SUV types with seats all the way to the back. Thus no room for wheelchairs or scooters. At the taxi dispatch, just outside the vendor area years ago, an accessible van was called for my scooter. Ever since I have been using them whenever we are in Anassau.

Gerard B. Lewis. He has various sizes of accessible transportation. His email is

Email him beforehand to get an idea of pricing. Vicki
